A significant milestone was celebrated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between INTI International University of Malaysia and the Sri Sathya Sai School Laos, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey in the fields of climate, environment, and social development
The MoU was formally signed by Professor Joseph Lee, Vice Chancellor of INTI International University, and Ms. Phouthasone Inthamone, Director of the Sri Sathya Sai School Laos, during a ceremony held on the school’s campus. The agreement reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with cooperation spanning joint projects, academic exchanges, training programs, and sustainability initiatives
In her opening remarks, Ms. Phouthasone spoke passionately about the school’s values-based vision and mission of holistic education, emphasizing that the Sri Sathya Sai School provides free, inclusive, and human values–centered education to all its students. Dr. Arasu Raman, Director of Social Impact and Project Lead at INTI’s ESG Centre, highlighted the long-term potential of this partnership to foster meaningful learning and social impact.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of the Ambassadors of Malaysia and India and their spouses, who each shared congratulatory reflections, underlining the importance of cross-border collaboration in education. The District Chief of Education also addressed the gathering, warmly commending the initiative as a step toward deepening educational and cultural ties between Laos and Malaysia
The program included student cultural performances, dances, and a school tour, where distinguished guests had the opportunity to experience the school’s facilities and interact with teachers and students. The festive atmosphere reflected the spirit of partnership and the promise of future cooperation.
Looking ahead, the partnership will be further strengthened through the EcoRise Project – Stage 2 Training and Engagement, bringing together 100 participants in a hands-on sustainability workshop
This collaboration stands as a testament to the power of education in advancing sustainability, strengthening people-to-people ties, and creating opportunities for young learners in Lao PDR.
