Indonesia, SSSGC Indonesia Conducts Seva and Trauma Healing for Flood Victims in Remote Aceh Tamiang, Sumatra

Guided by the grace of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and supported by prayers from the Sai Family, SSSGC Indonesia – Medan successfully carried out its fifth Seva Trip on January 25, 2025, reaching one of the most remote and severely affected areas in Desa Babo, Kecamatan Bandar Pusaka, Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang.

The team departed from Medan at 10:00 AM and arrived at the affected location at approximately 3:00 PM, after navigating extremely damaged roads. From the main Medan–Aceh highway, the journey required an additional two-hour drive deep into Desa Babo, an area considered the furthest accessible point and among the most isolated villages in the region.

Despite the challenging terrain, the Seva team conducted trauma healing activities for approximately 200 children from multiple evacuation camps. These activities were designed to provide emotional support and restore a sense of safety and normalcy for children affected by recent hardships.

In addition to trauma healing sessions, the team distributed essential humanitarian aid, including:

  • School bags for kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and senior high school students

  • School supplies such as pens, pencils, rulers, sharpeners, notebooks, drawing books, crayons, colored pencils, pencil cases and erasers

  • Bread in various flavors and assorted biscuits

  • Liquid milk

  • Sanitary pads for women

  • Baby diapers in sizes S, M, L and XL

  • Bath soap

  • Baby milk and baby biscuits

  • Single mattresses for sleeping

The Seva mission was organized by SSSGC Indonesia – Medan, in collaboration with Sai Avatar Centre and Shiva Shakti Sai Centre. The team consisted of three Balvikas teachers, the Seva Coordinator and Deputy Coordinatortwo Mahila members and a bus driver.

This humanitarian effort reflects the ongoing commitment of SSSGC Indonesia to serve communities in need, particularly in remote and underserved areas, through compassion-driven action and selfless service.
