On December 6–7, 2025, SSSGC Yogyakarta organized a Sociocare Grama Seva activity attended by Sai devotees from SSSGC Yogyakarta and Jakarta, as well as national office bearers of SSSGC Indonesia. The activity began on Saturday with a bhajan session from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, followed by a dharma discourse by Brother Hansen on the meaning of the most noble form of seva and concluded with prasadam.
As part of the preparation, Mrs. Zuki, Chairperson of SSSGC Yogyakarta and Seva Chairperson of Yogyakarta, played a key role in ensuring the readiness of all relief items and logistics for distribution. The devotees and sevadal were warmly welcomed at Sai Centre Yogyakarta prior to departing for the seva location.
On Sunday, the sevadal departed at 8:30 AM towards Desa Ngestirejo, located in the interior of Gunungkidul, approximately 60 km from Sai Centre Yogyakarta, marking the main segment of the Grama Seva activity. The village is home to underprivileged communities, whose primary livelihood is farming, particularly cassava and tuber crops.
Upon arrival, the seva activity commenced with entertainment and games led by the Sai Young Adults, fostering joyful interaction between the sevadal and the local community. The program was then officially opened with remarks by Brother Johnny Wong, Vice Chairman of SSSGC Indonesia.
The seva activity at the Ngestirejo Village Hall took place from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Assistance distributed included basic necessities, clothing, children’s bags and backpacks, complete stationery sets, books, snacks, fruit ice, instant noodles, bread and yellow rice. Additional items such as Thai cassava snacks, milk and coffee were also provided, and all beneficiaries received T-shirts and shirts. This initiative was carried out in commemoration of the 100th Birth Anniversary of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, as an offering in alignment with His teachings on selfless service and universal love.
Following the completion of activities in Desa Ngestirejo, the sevadal proceeded at 3:30 PM to the Ainul Yakin Special Needs Children’s Home in Gunungkidul, where seva activities continued until 5:00 PM. Assistance was once again distributed, along with moral support and companionship extended to children with special needs and their caregivers.
Overall, this Sociocare Grama Seva activity benefited a total of 1,368 people, with the aspiration of spreading happiness, care and a spirit of togetherness among the communities and children with special needs in Yogyakarta.
