Inspired by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s universal message of Love All Serve All, the Sri Sathya Sai Global Association Malaysia (SSSGAM), Ipoh Centre implements the Sri Sathya Sai Animal Care (SSSAC) Initiative as a structured, compassionate and sustainable response to the challenges faced by stray animals. The initiative integrates immediate welfare interventions with long-term preventive measures, ensuring dignity, protection and care for all lives.
Key Components of the Initiative
1. Adoption Drives
Monthly adoption drives are conducted to enable rescued stray puppies and kittens to be adopted into responsible and loving homes. These efforts promote ethical animal guardianship while reducing the number of animals living in vulnerable conditions.
Total animals adopted in 2025 : 139 comprising 88 puppies and 51 kittens and cats.
Since December 2021, a cumulative total of 913 stray animals have been spared from suffering and death on the streets through sustained and consistent adoption initiatives.
2. Neutering and Sterilisation Programme
To address the root cause of stray animal overpopulation, SSSAC supports neutering and sterilisation of stray animals rescued by independent rescuers. This preventive strategy is essential in controlling population growth and in reducing future abandonment, neglect and suffering.
• Number of strays neutered in 2025 : 58
• Total number of sterilisations since October 2023 : 140
Neutering and sterilisation activities are carried out on a monthly basis in collaboration with independent rescuers and veterinary partners.
3. Subsidised Vaccination Campaign
In response to a sudden outbreak of Canine Distemper and Parvo Virus, SSSAC implemented a two-month subsidised vaccination campaign. This initiative supported independent rescuers and B40 pet owners by easing the financial burden of vaccination costs, while ensuring timely protection of animals against life-threatening diseases.
Total animals vaccinated during the campaign : 132 dogs and cats.
Inspiring a Global Movement
The SSSAC initiative by SSSGAM Ipoh Centre demonstrates how organised compassion, when supported by structure and consistency, can lead to meaningful and measurable outcomes. Through collaborative effort and faith expressed through action, even a modest centre is able to safeguard hundreds of animal lives.
This initiative stands as a practical model of animal care grounded in compassion, responsibility and selfless service, reflecting the universal values of the Sri Sathya Sai organisation and offering a replicable framework for centres worldwide.
“Service to animals is service to God.”
