Malaysia, Community Health Carnival 2025 by SSSGC Taman Daya

The Community Health Carnival 2025, held on 22nd June at Dewan Nibong in Taman Daya, Johor Bahru, was a heartwarming and impactful initiative dedicated to promoting holistic well-being among the local community. Sri Sathya Sai Global Association of Malaysia (SSSGAM) Taman Daya organized in conjunction with the centennial birthday celebration of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the carnival embodied the spirit of love, service, and compassion.

This vibrant event was made possible through the joint efforts of the SSSGAM Taman Daya, Poliklinik & Surgeri Sai Johor Bahru, Klinik Kesihatan Sultan Ismail (KKSI), and the Johor Bahru District Health Office (PKD JB). The presence of YBhg. Dr. Haji Mohtar bin Pungut @ Haji Ahmad, Director of Health for Johor State, who officiated the event, underscored the strong support from the Ministry of Health for community-based health programs and public-private partnerships.

Throughout the day, the carnival provided a comprehensive range of free medical services and screenings. These included over 100 full blood profile tests, pap smears, and fundus eye examinations. Influenza vaccinations were administered to high-risk individuals, while chest X-rays were offered to those deemed at risk. Participants also benefited from basic eye screenings, blood pressure and anthropometry assessments, cholesterol and glucose testing, PEKA B40 screenings, and screenings for infectious diseases such as STDs. Dental checks for both adults and children were available, as were breast examinations, medical officer consultations, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and personalized counselling services. In addition to the clinical services, the event featured a number of health exhibitions and wellness booths that offered guidance on nutrition, chiropractic care, insurance awareness, and medication counselling, all designed to empower individuals with knowledge and preventive care strategies.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 326 individuals registering via QR code and another 314 through manual registration. It was estimated that an additional 30 to 40 unregistered individuals also attended, bringing the total number of attendees—including staff and volunteers—to over 700. More than 1,300 individual services were rendered throughout the event, demonstrating the substantial impact of the initiative on the community.

Supporting this effort were 30 dedicated volunteers from SSSGAM Taman Daya, representing a mix of adults, youths, and mahilas, as well as teen-youths from the Sri Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) program. These volunteers played essential roles in registration, logistics, crowd management, and ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for every participant.

Adding to the carnival’s festive atmosphere were several engaging and educational activities. Participants enjoyed health talks, interactive quizzes, and a health exhibition designed to deepen understanding of common health issues. A lucky draw brought excitement to the event, while refreshment stalls served nourishing beverages and snacks. Notable giveaways included 300 cups of milk, 1,500 cups of sugar-free isotonic drinks, 21 chiropractic consultations, 30 units of healthcare products, and a range of sponsored health drinks and awareness materials related to health insurance.

In conclusion, the Community Health Carnival 2025 was more than a health initiative—it was a celebration of service, unity, and love. By offering early screenings, timely interventions, and wellness education, it successfully contributed to the health and happiness of the local population. True to the teachings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the event radiated the principles of “Love All, Serve All – Help Ever, Hurt Never,” and stands as a shining example of what community-driven service can achieve. With the overwhelming support and heartfelt participation witnessed, the organizers look forward to continuing this noble journey towards building a healthier, more compassionate Malaysia.

Once again, a heartfelt gratitude to our beloved Bhagawan in allowing Taman Daya to successfully organise this extravaganza event with full of love and unity.
